Harwood. Series Title. The Bufumbira volcanic field in SW Uganda consists of a group of about 40 cinder cones lying north of the large stratovolcanoes of the NE part of the Virunga Mountains. The cinder cones occur in clusters and were erupted along lineaments.
They are typically breached on one side by lava flows. The Bafumbira are cultivators. Their staple food is sorghum. sorghum grains can be cooked if harvested fresh or eaten raw if harvested dry. They can also be ground to make flour from which a variety of drinks are prepared.
